The pink theme running through my favourites this month was completely by accident, I swear. It wasn’t until I had compiled all of these products together that I realised that six out of eight of them had some form of pink on their packaging – I’m a total sucker for pretty packaging. I might just add in that half of the bottle of tea tree oil leaked all over the bag I had my favourites products in as I started to write this post, but luckily none of them were ruined. If they were, it’s safe to say that tea tree oil wouldn’t be in my favourites anymore. I hope that everyone had a good first month of 2014 and, if you didn’t, there are a whole other eleven months to squeeze in plenty of good times (and new beauty products).
Wet n Wild Sweet As Candy eyeshadow trio – Announcement to all Irish beauty bloggers: Wet n Wild is now available in Ireland! Check out @WetnWildIRL for stockists and more details. Hearing that Wet n Wild is available for purchase in Ireland was music to my ears, especially after trying out this eyeshadow trio that I picked up in NY. These three eyeshadow colours are like a very condensed version of the Naked 3 as one is pink, one is brown and one is a champagne colour. Each colour is labelled where to apply – eyelid, crease or brow bone, which makes it really easy to apply and use. I turned to this product a lot this month as it has everything I need to create a nice daytime look and applies really well. If you’re interested in more detail and would like to see swatches, please leave a comment down below and I’ll make a post next week!
Revlon PhotoReady SkinLights in Pink Light – I heard a lot about this product in the beauty world and was eager to try it out, and I am so glad that I did. I was apprehensive about spending €17.99 in Boots on a drugstore product, so I was expecting a lot for the relatively high price. I’ve loved mixing a drop or two of this in with my NARS Sheer Glow foundation to brighten up my skin, and it also works well as a highlight on its own. The formula is quite watery, but that makes it quite easy to blend into the skin. The illuminating particles are quite small, so don’t worry about looking like Edward Cullen caught in daylight. I know that there a few different shades of this available, so if you’re interested in buying you could check out those too.
Victoria’s Secret Pure Seduction Hydrating Body Lotion – Cold weather and fake tan don’t mix well, especially on dry skin. I’ve been using this body moisturiser by Victoria’s Secret this month to hydrate my skin before and after applying tan. The formula is nice and creamy and doesn’t leave the skin sticky, plus the red plum and freesia scent is to die for.
Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Wash – This stuff is amazing. Soap & Glory are the number one brand I turn to for body care products, and I am never ever disappointed with what I buy. The lime fragrance of this body wash is enough to wake you up in the morning, a few pumps of this and you’re set to go for the day. I’ve also tried the Clean on Me Body Wash by Soap and Glory, which I loved, but the fresh citrus scent of Sugar Crush makes it my number one favourite.
Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in So Much Fawn – For the month of January I have been trying to stick with my New Year’s resolution not to bite my nails, and instead of paying €30 for a Shellac manicure that would last three weeks, I paid €8 for this nail polish from the queen of nails, Sally Hansen, which has worked just as well. While it doesn’t last three weeks, it makes doing your nails at home pretty easy and gives a salon shine that lasts days. I was never one for applying base coats, top coats and all that jazz, but this nail polish combines all of those steps into one. My nails feel stronger and look salon-worthy. I can’t wait to try out a few new shades!
Tea Tree Oil – Over-indulgence at Christmas means one thing – a huge breakout on my skin come January. While I’ve been trying to fight away blemishes this whole month, I’ve turned to tea tree oil to combat redness and fight bacteria. It’s affordable and one drop is enough per blemish, so one bottle should last a long time (unless you spill half of it, like me).
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla – This concealer is like a high-end version of Collection’s Lasting Perfection Concealer, I think. It has become a firm favourite of mine this month to conceal post-Christmas blemishes and cover dark under-eye circles. While Collection’s Lasting Perfection Concealer is the one that I turn to everyday, the creaminess and luxuriousness of this one makes it my first port of call for special occasions or when my skin needs a boost.
Soap & Glory Thick & Fast Mascara – I posted a full review of this mascara during the week, so all details are available there. To shorten it all down, though, I’ve loved this mascara all month as it is thickening, lengthening and volumising all in one single application – it is mascara gold.
I’m looking forward to a whole other month of trying new products and finding new favourites, if you’ve any monthly favourites or have made a January Favourites post, please leave the link down below, I’d love to read it!
