There comes a time when you just have to go to Boots, grab a basket and pray for the best when you get to the till. Last Thursday was one of those times.
A trip to Boots was long overdue, I think November was the last time I had a chance to roam around and set sucked in by all the 3for2 deals. So hold on tight, this is a big ‘un.
My current shampoo and conditioner just wasn’t doing the job for me anymore, leaving my hair greasy, flat and dry after every wash. I always take that as a sign that my hair has gotten too used to the products so they don’t work anymore, and I need to switch it up. I picked up Dove Oxygen Moisture shampoo and conditioner, as I’d never tried hair products from Dove before. So far, so good. My hair feels squeaky clean after every wash and has more volume and lift in the roots.
As for volume, I repurchased V05 Give Me Texture Dry Texturising Spray. I’ve spoken about this a million times before, so I won’t ramble on. All I can say is that I don’t know how I went over three months without having it in my life. It’s good hair in a bottle.
Due to my obsession with my InStyler, I need a really good heat protectant spray. After hearing amazing things about the L’Oreal Heat Protect and Styling Spray from my friend Jen, I had to give it a try. I’m a sucker for the packaging, too.
I’ve mentioned a hundred times before that I am terrified to try drugstore foundations as every one I’ve ever tried has broken me out, but when I saw the new L’Oreal Infallible 24H Matte foundation on promotion for just over €10, I found myself swatching shades and throwing one into my basket. I was expecting to get home and see that the shade I picked up was way too dark for me, but I’m pleasantly surprised that it’s not. I got vanilla and it’s the perfect shade.
Stepping away from the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer for once, I said I’d give Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer a try. I was looking for something more brightening for under my eyes, and this has done the trick. I got the shade ivory and it takes away dark circles in a flash.
Another Rimmel purchase, I grabbed the Provocalips Lip Colour in Kiss Me You Fool. A lot of people say that this is too long lasting, but I wouldn’t mind that as when I wear a red lip, I want it to last all day and not budge. I haven’t given it a try yet, so I can’t comment, but I’ll be sure to keep you posted.
After seeing Barbara from The Persian Babe use Eyelure Exaggerate Lashes in no. 141 in a tutorial a few months ago, they immediately went on my wishlist. I wore them out last week and fell in love with them. They’re not too long or spiky looking, but give loads of volume and smokiness to the lashes. I can see these becoming my go-to lashes for sure.
I’m not much of a nails kinda gal, but had the urge to pick up a nice grey nail varnish. I got the shade carnival from Seventeen, and while I haven’t tried it yet the brush looks really impressive. It was around €3, and there was an identical one from Barry M for €6, so I think I got a good deal.
Last, but certainly not least is *angels singing* the Real Techniques Flat Contour Brush from the Bold Metals Collection. I just couldn’t resist picking it up. At €28, it was a bit of a splurge for a drugstore brush, but Real Techniques are my all-time favourite brand for brushes. If it’s even half as good as it is beautiful, I’ll be happy.
Safe to say that I clocked up quite a few Boots Advantage Points on that visit, but it was so worth it. Sure every product is for research purposes so I can report back to you guys, right?
