It’s pretty worrying that I have to write down what I do as it happens during the week in order to be able to write this post, because otherwise I’d forget everything. My posts would revolve around what I ate for breakfast and my latest cookie-indulgence, and totally skip major events if I didn’t.
This week in the ever-so-exciting-life-of-Amy (sarcasm), I got way too excited when I took a trip to Penneys and picked up a whole new set of bedding – it literally made my week. I stepped away from the pinks and florals for the first time in 19 years and went for a white, grey and blue theme and I love it. The homeware range in Penneys is just amazing at the minute, definitely go in and have a look if you’re looking to add a few updates at home. I got fairy lights for around my bed frame, and a blanket so soft that getting out of bed in the morning physically hurts inside. I put a picture up on my Instagram of everything I got if you’re interested. Contradicting all of that, I haven’t been sleeping well at all this week – from the day I got my new bedding I haven’t slept a full night, how ironic?! Camomile tea is my new best friend for relaxation.
I also tried a spin class in the gym on Thursday night in an effort to shake up my (slightly non-existent) exercise regime. I tried a spin class about a year ago and hated it – the music, the lights, the shouting, it was all very traumatic. But I actually quite enjoyed it this time, and I could definitely feel the effects of the endorphins afterwards, although my bum was in tatters after from the uncomfortable seat. (TMI? Maybe…) I don’t think I’ll be joining the Tour de France anytime soon.
A much needed catch up with my two best friends was had at the beginning of the week, in the company of infinite bowls of Pad Thai and Ramen in Kanoodle in Clontarf. I never laugh as much as I do when I’m with my two gals, I’m convinced the amount of laughing I did on Tuesday counted as an ab workout, especially when we were trying to shout our McFlurry order at the electronic McDonald’s drive-thru.
Friday marked the four year anniversary since my mam passed away, so myself and my dad headed to Howth for some lunch and a walk along the pier. Something about being by the sea is so relaxing, and while losing someone never gets easier, life has a way of making it okay. I watched 10 episodes of Sex and the City that night (my new obsession), with tea, chocolate and fairy lights in tow and everything felt just a little bit more manageable.
Please let me know in the comments what you got up to this week, I’d love to hear!
I also made a Facebook page this week for WhatSheDoesNow, so click on the Facebook symbol to the right of the screen for even more ramblings and updates!
