Sorry January, but you’re the most depressing month of the year. Christmas is over, we’re burdened with ‘new year, new me’ resolutions, most of us feel forced back into exercising and cutting out chocolate *sobs*, the Christmas decorations come down and reality hits us like a brick.
On top of all that, for personal reasons January is a really tough month for me. But if you know me, you’ll know that I’m not one to sit down and be negative. Positivity is my forte. I’m a big believer in the power of the mind, and that you’ll get out of the universe what you put into it.
So that brought to me the idea of #Positivuary. Get it? Positivity + January (and maybe February if this goes well) = Positivuary. Each day this week I’ll have a post up on some aspect of positivity, whether it be advice or just general ramblings that will hopefully put a smile on your dial.
With a bit of positive thinking, January doesn’t seem so bad after all. It’s a new start, a new year, full to the brim with opportunities – who’s with me?!
I’m going to start this week with telling you about my beliefs in balance in life. Now, before you think I’m insane, bare with me – this is actually pretty good, if I may say so myself. I tell a few people about this now and again, and it always seems to go down well. It’s something that I really believe in, and something that makes the day go by a little easier.
Imagine a scales. Not a weighing scales *shudders*, but the old type of scales, that has two plates on each side. Like this one. Think of one side of the scales as the good in life, and the other as the bad in life. Whether it be events, emotions, things that have happened to you. If your scales looks like theres a lot of bad in your life at the minute, and not a lot of good, the bad will weigh the scales down and they will be uneven. My belief is that the goodness in your life will always outweigh the bad. So, if the badness in your life has that side of the scales hitting the floor, then that means there’s going to be a hella lot of good to put things back into balance, and to outweigh the bad.
Whether you’ve had a little bit of bad in your life or a lot (it’s up to you what you classify as really good or really bad), that means that there’s going to be so much good stuff coming your way to balance everything back again. So, on the bad days I always remind myself that means there will be one (or two) really good days on the way to balance the scales back. And when I look back on my life and see the unhappy things, it gives me hope that that means there will be the same level of, if not more, good things to come into my life to balance the scales back and make the good side of the scales touch the floor.
I hope that makes sense, and that I don’t sound insane! It’s just something that I really believe in, and I thought that there might be someone who could do with hearing it. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned for more doses of positivity everyday this week!
