We all have our struggles. Some are big, some are small, but at the end of the day a struggle is a struggle. I’m not sure what or why, but something made me feel like I had to write a post on this today. For a primarily beauty blog this might be a bit deep, but my tag line does say ‘fashion, beauty, positivity’, and although I don’t write about positivity that often, it’s one of the most important things in my life.
I’m a real believer in that you go through struggles in order to have some of the best times of your life. I don’t mean that you have to have a bad time in order to have a good time, I mean that I think that going through a struggle is necessary to make you appreciate and strive for better times.
For a while I thought that going through a tough time was the worst thing in the whole world, and it was. One tough time after another, and another, and another and it started to feel like an endless circle. I thought that the struggles would never end, and they didn’t. But one day something clicked in my head, and I saw struggles in a completely different light.
I started to see struggles as a battlefield, as an experience that would make or break you. Something you could grow and learn from. You could sit and accept the struggle and let it defeat you, but really that’s not a struggle at all.
A struggle is like when you try to fit your foot into a new pair of boots. You try squeezing your foot in and it seems that there’s no hope in hell it’s going to fit. But it will. It’s your size, and these are some pretty damn beautiful boots. So you can either sigh, and push the boots aside and never put them on again. Or you can force your foot in there, worm and wiggle it around until it fits right in. You might lose a toe (hopefully not) in the process, but when you get them on they look amazing, and you can never see yourself taking them off.
I hope that makes sense and that you know I’m not really talking about a boot, but you catch my drift. When you’re going through a struggle you can give up and let the struggle take over, or you can fight it as best you can, squash the struggle and turn it into something you can grow from.
One quote that has gotten me through the toughest times in my life is ‘You have to go fight through the bad days in order to earn the best days of your life’ and I truly believe it. I genuinely believe with all of my heart and soul that bad days lead to amazing days and that it’s always darkest before the dawn. There’s always rain before the rainbow. Remembering this has made the hard days a whole lot easier, and has made me work harder and strive more for the better days. No one ever got anywhere by having an easy life. It is the struggles that you go through that make or break you – and it’s your decision which path you choose. Although it isn’t always easy to see it, believing that the best times of your life are ahead is one of the best ways to get through the bad days.
I know this post is a bit random, but it’s something that I’m so passionate about and try to tell anyone that will listen to me. If you’re going through a tough time, no matter how big or small, remember that it will end, the time will pass and you will grow stronger and have days in the future that are so amazing you won’t be able to remember the bad ones.
Every flower grows through dirt and storms make trees take deeper roots. Tough times don’t last, but tough people do. You were given this life because you’re strong enough to live it.
Happy Sunday everyone, I hope you’d a great day! Let me know in the comments below what you think of these kinds of posts, because I’ve so much to say about positivity!
