The Sun Holiday Makeup Face

IMG_9789

Apologies for no posts on Monday and Wednesday, although I got home from holidays on Thursday I actually didn’t get home until Tuesday. And since then the house has been upside down because we’re getting work done. Anyway, after spending two weeks in 27 degrees heat, I developed somewhat a makeup routine for dinner and drinks in the evening. I went bare faced mostly during the day, but had to make the most of my makeup bag weighing nearly one kilo (oops) at night time.

Lanzarote is actually quite cool at night time, so I didn’t have too many SULA alerts while chowing down my spag-bol. But humidity was high, so I had to make sure my makeup was long-lasting and wouldn’t slide off my face before I could say ‘A Cosmopolitan, por favor.’

I started off with Kiehl’s Micro Blur Skin Perfecter as my primer, which held everything in place and created a really smooth base, I am in love with this stuff. There wasn’t really any other contender but NARS Sheer Glow as my foundation. It’s light, dewy and gives great coverage – what more could you want? NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer was on hand to conceal blemishes and redness. Although I brought more eyeshadows than I’d like to admit, Urban Decay’s Naked Palette had all the shades I needed. Brown, bronze, neutral, gold, smoky – every eye look is in this palette. Trusty Anastasia Brow Wiz and Collection clear gel were used to tame and fill in my brows. I honestly can’t see myself using another brow product for a very long time. I mostly did a very thin line of liquid liner along my lashes to add some thickness, I just couldn’t face the task of doing a cat-eye every night. A few layers of Maybelline The Falsies waterproof mascara and my eye makeup was done.

Bronzer was my favourite product on holiday. Reapplying factor 30 every half an hour equalled to no tanning for me, but bronzer gave a lovely sunny glow that didn’t require lying in the sun for five hours straight. MAC Mineralise Skin Finish in Give Me Sun! did exactly as the name says. It’s a sun-kissed glow and tan in powder form. I picked up Maybelline Dream Sun while I was over there, and safe to say I’m in love with it as a blush and bronzer. I used this as my bronzing ‘base’ and then applied MSF on top. I used MAC MSF in Soft and Gentle as a highlight. I really don’t think there’s a nicer highlight around, it’s the perfect balance of shimmery and glowy without looking like a disco ball. MAC MSF (can you tell that I love this product?) in Light was my go-to powder for keeping unwanted shine at bay. Dewiness  = good. Extreme sweaty-shiniess = bad. I ran out of this over there and plan to pick up a new one as soon as possible. Revlon Colour Burst Lacquer Balm in Demure is my favourite nude at the minute, and despite bringing about six other lipsticks, this is the one I used most.

I’m getting major P.H.D. (post holiday depression) writing this – is anything better than sitting by the beach having dinner with great company and no worries? I think not. But hey, that’s what makes holidays so good, right?
