Word on the street is that nude is the new red when it comes to lipsticks, and I for one am more than happy about that. MAC is my first port of call for lipsticks, and their selection of nude lipsticks is enough to make any makeup lover drool. Who knew that their could be that many shades of nude?!
From left to right:
Hue – The lightest of all the nudes I have, Hue is a light pink, creamy formula. My natural lip colour is quite red, so this colour is a bit too light for me in just one layer, so I really have to pile this stuff on to get good colour payoff. I like wearing this when my makeup is a bit heavier and more dramatic, because it tones it down.
Shy Girl – Shy Girl is a peachy, slightly orange-tinted pink (how many words can I use to describe one colour?!). It’s creamy and is opaque, which I love. It also has small bits of shimmer in it, but they transfer as more of a shine on the lips. I’ll be using this colour all summer!
Creme Cup – While this doesn’t look nude in the picture, I’d still consider it a nude-pink. It’s quite muted and understated, and is pink without being too pink. Does that make sense? :’) I always go for Creme Cup when I want to have noticeable colour on my lips, without it being a statement.
Bare Again – This Sheen Supreme lipstick is my ultimate favourite nude. I’ve gone through two tubes of it, and what you see in the picture is all that’s left of this one. It’s rich, creamy glossy and so pigmented. As I said, my lips are a dark pink/red so I need a pigmented colour to cover the natural colour completely, and this lipstick is the perfect one for the job. It looks quite dark in the picture, but is a mix between Hue and Creme Cup, with a hint of darker colour, in real life.
What are your favourite nude lipsticks?
I like Creme De Nude from MAC and To Nude or Not To Nude from Rimmel London.
ooh I’ve never tried either of them! I must give them a try, thanks for the recommendation! x
