I like to believe that every day can be a good day if you start it right. Every morning we wake up with a brand new day full of opportunities ahead of us, so we might as well make sure we make the most of it. There are a few things that I do everyday to make sure it’s a good one and that I’m happy throughout, so I thought I’d share them with you. Although some things may happen during the day that make it not so good, at least you know that you can try your best to make tomorrow better or even make that day better. Enjoy!
1. Wake up with a positive attitude
This is the most important step. If you wake up and tell yourself “today is going to be terrible, I’m in such a bad mood”, chances are, it will be! By starting the day off positively, you’re getting into the mentality that the day is going to be great, and therefore you’ll be able to handle any challenges that come your way better. Even if you have to tell yourself every morning before you get up, “Today is going to be fantastic!”, do it! It’ll make all the difference. In short, treat everyday like it’s your birthday.
2. Eat a good breakfast
I can’t stress how important this is. I’m sure everyone has heard by now that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so it’s crucial that you eat it! Even if you’re rushing out the door, always grab something to eat. Starting the day with a good, healthy breakfast will give you energy for the day ahead. Make the time to have a good breakfast, I love porridge with strawberries and a slice of brown toast. I’m a very hungry person, ok? Even if you can only stomach an apple, try your best to eat it to prevent a slump in your energy (and your mood) later in the day.
3. Have a chat
Talking to my best friend is one of my favourite things to do each day. It puts me in a great mood and always makes me laugh. Even if you only have five minutes to send a quick text, try to keep in contact with the people close to you as 9 times out of 10 you’ll feel better after.
4. Take time for yourself
I mention this in nearly every post I write, but it is just so important. Even amongst assignments and work I always find the time to sit down and have a cup of tea while reading a magazine. Taking a few minutes out from your day to re-energize will make the world of difference, and will make you more prepared to face the rest of the day without burning out.
5. Do something you enjoy
Again, I mention this is nearly every post but doing what we enjoy is what life is all about. Having a laugh with friends, painting your nails or rewatching Friends for the 100th time are the little things that make for a great day. Whatever makes you feel good, do it. Be it having a bath or ticking things off your to-do list.
I hope everyone had a great weekend!
