Benefit – The Porefessional Primer

Primers were never really a crucial part of my makeup routine. I’d throw one on if I remembered, and only for special occasions. But after hearing all of the hype surrounding Benefit’s Porefessional Primer, I had to give it a try.

First of all, I was surprised by the size of the tube. I thought it would be much bigger for what you’re paying. Saying that though, a little goes a long way with this stuff so I can see it lasting a long time. The primer is said to minimise the appearance of pores, give skin a smooth base for applying makeup and make your makeup last longer. While I was quite skeptical at first, I must say that I agree with these claims.

The primer comes out a nude colour, but blends into the skin so it virtually disappears. I don’t apply this all over my face, just on the areas I need it most – my nose, chin, the bottom of my cheeks and centre of my forehead. That’s nearly everywhere, but hey. As soon as I apply this my skin feels so smooth and silky, but not slippery. It smooths over any bumps and although I don’t have that many visible pores, it reduces the appearance of the few that I do have.

You don’t have to wait for the product to dry in before applying foundation, which I love. Foundation blends into the skin with ease after applying this, and overall the appearance of makeup on the skin improves. The formula is so lightweight that it doesn’t feel like anything is on the skin at all, and I haven’t experienced any problems with this irritating my skin or causing breakouts.

My skin isn’t very oily, so makeup usually lasts well throughout the day without primer, but when I use this for nights out or days that I’m really busy I notice a positive difference in the appearance of my makeup.

If you’re looking at giving the Porefessional Primer a go, I would definitely recommend giving it a try. I have only good things to say about it, and I don’t think you can go wrong with it!
