They See Me Haulin’

Payday and a new season could mean only one thing – a bit of shopping had to be done. I don’t know how it happened, but suddenly I had absolutely nothing to wear when I opened my wardrobe. Everything was too heavy, too dull or I’d worn it so many times it was like a uniform to me. So I decided that picking up a few bits for spring was the only option. Given that spring in Ireland means it’s still freezing, rainy and windy, only the sun comes out occasionally, picking up skirts and cami tops wouldn’t have been the best idea. Although the shops are full of clothes for warmer weather, I picked up a few pieces that I can layer according to Ireland’s climate. And as soon as the weather picks up another shopping trip will be due. A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do…

Orange/red jumper and white jumper // Topshop

These jumpers are really lightweight and are pretty affordable at €36 each, as far as Topshop prices go. I’m usually in grey or black so hopefully these will introduce a bit of colour to my wardrobe. I’ve already worn the orange one a few times and love it. They have more colours in store so definitely have a look if you’re looking for a jumper to transition into spring.

Grey speckled top // Penneys

Yes, I’m trying to step away from greys and blacks, but when I saw this top in Penneys I couldn’t say no. It’s the perfect top to throw on when you have nothing to wear and can be dressed up or down with accessories.

Silver rope necklace and turquoise necklace // Penneys

Accessories are the easiest way to make outfits look different, and picking up a necklace or two is way cheaper than buying a whole new wardrobe. These necklaces were €5 each in Penneys and I totally love them, especially with my new jumpers. Forever 21 have some gorgeous bright necklaces in at the moment as well that won’t break the bank.

Merino holdall // Topshop

I know that I said a few weeks ago that I wouldn’t buy a new handbag because my Michael Kors Selma ticks all the boxes, but bear with me. I bought this bag as a more casual alternative to my Selma, because sometimes I don’t feel comfortable bringing my ‘good’ handbag with me on nights out and the likes, because if something happened to it I would be devastated. This bag is a soft leather, and slightly bigger, and also has a long shoulder strap – so it’s the perfect replacement.

Kimono // New Look

The picture doesn’t do this piece justice at all. It’s a sheer black oversized kimono with three quarter length sleeves and lace detail along the edges of the sleeves, across the back and along the bottom. I thought it would be the perfect cover up over cami tops and is a nice alternative to a cardigan. I can see myself getting good wear out of this on holidays as well when it gets cold in the evenings. (I’m such a granny, I know.)

Considering I hadn’t been physically shopping (not online shopping) in so long, I think I did pretty well. I always make sure that I get value for money when I buy clothes, so expect to see these pieces featured a lot in the coming weeks!

Happy weekend everyone  – have a good one!
