Luminous skin is something that many people want to achieve – who wouldn’t want to look like a Victoria’s Secret model who’s just spent a week in the sun? The reality is usually quite different. For me, anyway. Thanks to nights out, work, assignments and Netflix, I usually don’t get as much sleep as I need, resulting in dull, lack lustre skin. But fear not, my fellow sleep deprived friends, these few products give a gorgeous luminous, dewy base, so no one will be able to tell that you watched three seasons of Breaking Bad in five days. Also, what better look is there for going into spring?
I start by doing a quick face scrub, which exfoliates all of the dead skins away and leaves a smooth base. Vichy Normaderm 3in1 is gentle enough to use two/three times a week. Moisturising is key for this look – moisturised skin = happy skin. I love Origins Gin Zing moisturiser, which is made to illuminate and refreshen the skin. I mix a drop of MAC Strobe Cream into NARS Sheer Glow foundation to create the ultimate luminous base. The reflecting particles in the Strobe Cream combined with the dewiness of NARS Sheer Glow makes a base that would make even the most dull skin look alive. Cream blush and highlight are essential for this look – powder doesn’t equate to luminousness. I use MAC Casual Colour Lip & Cheek Colour in Keep It Loose just above the apples of the cheeks and MAC Cream Colour Base in Hush along the cheekbones, on top of the cupid’s bow and under the brow bone. In order to make this dewy, glowy look last, a spritz of MAC Fix + seals everything into place, for a look that will last all day.
What’re your luminous base essentials?
