Face masks aren’t something that I always included in my routine. I used them more as a ‘treat’ and to be honest, I mostly used them only when I remembered to. That’s all changed now though, thanks to Una Brennan’s Super Facialist Tea Flower Deep Clean Pore Purifying Clay Mask. That’s one helluva long name.
I picked this product up on a trip to Boots, as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to try it. First of all, it wasn’t more than €13 – bargain.com! Secondly, it was exactly what I was looking for: something to clear my skin of impurities and clean out my pores.
So, what’s the verdict? It says that it’s ‘a detoxifying mask to unclog pores and restores skin balance,’ and honestly that exactly what it does. It contains salicylic acid, dead sea oil, avocado oil and Acacia honey – all of which have fantastic benefits for the skin.
The formula is creamy and easy to apply, and isn’t gloopy or sticky at all. I simply wipe it all over my face and neck with my fingers and leave to dry in for 5 minutes. It then turns hard and feels slightly tight – that’s when you know you’ve got to wash it off. One thing I hate about face masks is that most are hard to get off, and no matter what there’s always some product left on my face. This isn’t the case with this product. I usually wash it off in the shower, which is easiest, or use a damp face towel. It isn’t harsh on the skin and you don’t need to pull or tug to get it off, it almost turns into a milk and glides off the face – perfection.
The results of using this face mask have been incredible for my skin. My pores were blocked and clogged, my skin was lacking vitality and it was pretty crap over all. I had bad breakouts all over my chin and forehead, which just wouldn’t go away. Using this twice a week really helped to solve all of those problems. It unblocked my pores and clarified my skin, I could see the results from my first use. One tiny complaint that I have is that the condition of my skin slightly worsened before it got better. Unclogging pores means that all of the dirt comes to the surface, it was as if the impurities were being pulled out of my skin. This meant a few blemishes here and there, but after using it for a few weeks my pores have been cleared and no more breakouts occur.
My skin doesn’t feel dehydrated or tight after using, which is a common problem with face masks. It’s really gentle on the skin and didn’t cause any irritation whatsoever. A little goes a long way with this product as you only need to apply a thin layer for it to work its magic.
If you’re on the hunt for a new face mask, I’d definitely give this one a try. It’s pretty affordable and has worked wonders for my skin – I can see myself using this for a long time. I can’t wait to try more products by Una Brennan based on this amazing face mask!
