Valentine’s Day – some people love it, some people hate it. Whether you’re loved up for Valentine’s or hosting a single’s party, these are five lipsticks that are perfect if you’re going on a hot date, or just want to make yourself feel good. We must first love ourselves before we can love somebody else, right?
Top left kiss, matched to lipstick underneath : MAC Creme Cup – I’ve expressed my love of this lipstick before, and I don’t think I’ll be stopping anytime soon. It’s the perfect pinky-nude; it’s creamy and looks as good during the day as it does at night. If you’re going for a smoky eye this Valentine’s, this lipstick would be the perfect match.
Bottom left kiss, matched to lipstick underneath : Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie – A deep berry colour that doesn’t call for lip liner or worrying if you’ve gotten it on your teeth, Revlon’s Lip Butters are perfect for quick application and touch-ups. This colour is really girly, and totally screams Valentine’s.
Middle kiss, matched to lipstick beside ‘L’ : Chanel Creme Lipstick in Teheran – This lipstick is much more coral-toned than it shows up on paper (see swatch below). Kissing paper wasn’t exactly how I planned to spend my Tuesday night. Nevertheless, this lipstick is everything you’d expect from Chanel. It’s moisturising, pigmented and has great lasting power. I think coral lipstick is really underrated in the beauty world, but is so beautiful. It suits nearly every skin tone and is a nice change from a classic pink. Coral is always big news for spring, so be ahead of the crowd with this gorgeous colour.
Top right kiss, matched to lipstick on top left corner : MAC M.A.C. Red – The ‘perfect red’ seemed like a myth to me for a long time, until I found M.A.C. Red. Its true colour shows up better in the swatch below, kissing paper is harder than you think. It’s a true red colour that doesn’t dry the lips out. What’s more suited to Valentine’s than a red lipstick?! I line my lips with a NYX liner before using this so the colour doesn’t bleed, but with or without lipliner this colour has surprisingly good staying power. I wore it all Christmas Day and only had to reapply once. If you’re going understated with your outfit this Valentine’s, this lipstick is perfect for making a statement Marilyn Monroe style.
Bottom right kiss, matched to lipgloss directly above : Revlon Colourburst Lipgloss in Peony – Somedays just call for a good lipgloss, and Valentine’s is one of them. This lipgloss from Revlon is juicy, glossy and gorgeous. It is pink with gold shimmer throughout, and looks great on its own or on top of a nude lipstick. The shimmer isn’t too glitzy, if you’re afraid of looking like you dipped your lips in a pot of glitter. It is tiny flecks that you can hardly notice, except for the fact that your lips look shiny and full.
